Nest Cam clicking noise

My nest cam (wired, indoor, 2nd gen) sometimes has a constant clicking sound (every few seconds) along with a blinking green light.  No one is watching it live as it is connected to my private Google account. I have already changed the password.

Hi @SBB0,

The constant clicking sound and blinking green light on your Nest Cam (wired, indoor, 2nd gen) can be concerning. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check the Google Home App:

  • Open the Google Home app and ensure your Nest Cam is online and not experiencing any connection issues.
  • Look for any notifications or alerts related to the camera. These might provide clues about the clicking and blinking light.

2. Restart the Nest Cam:

3. Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure the power cable is securely plugged into both the camera and the outlet.
  • If possible, try using a different outlet and power cable to rule out any power supply issues.

4. Disable Night Vision:

  • Sometimes Nest Cams make a clicking sound when switching between night vision and regular view. If the clicking coincides with periods of low light, try disabling night vision temporarily and see if the sound persists. You can do this through the Nest app.

5. Factory Reset (Last Resort):

  • If none of the above solutions work, a factory reset might be necessary. This will erase all settings and data and video clips on the camera. Be sure to back up any recordings you want to save before performing a reset. Instructions for factory reset can be found in this manual.

Try those steps and let us know if the clicking noise was fixed.

All the best,

Josh

Thank you for your response. I reset factory setings on camera today. I also reinstalled the Google home app. Also deactivated night vision. No issues of clicking sound since then. Thanks.
