Nest Cam (wired). Unable to connect

Router is Calix 844GE. Trying to connect 2 Nest Cam's for the 1st time. I migrated to Google Home and am using that app. I get to the "Connecting to joining devise" screen but eventually it tipesmout and I get the "Something went wrong" scree with the "exit setup" button. The service provider lowered my security level to medium. I have wifi access to my phone and iPad but this is my first attempt to add something via a 3rd party app. I'm using the 2.4 ghz wifi option (also tried 5 ghz). I've tried unplugging cameras, restarting the router, and starting a new "home" in the Google Home app. Any ideas? Thanks
