Nest Cam won’t charge past 3%

My Nest Cam battery died so I brought it in to plug in and charge. After hours of being plugged in it has only charged to 3%. I saw that temperature could affect battery charging however the cam has had ample time to warm up. Are there any ways to trouble shoot this issue or has anyone had this happen?

Do you have the charging cord plugged in with the cord feeding towards the FRONT of the camera (as it should)?

If that's not the problem, I've seen a few posts in this forum where customers discovered they had faulty charging cords.

(We've had a battery camera since Sept. 2021, plugged in with the optional power cable, and it's been "Live" and online ever since.)

@Danielle1, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, what is your outside temperature? If the temperature is below 0°C (32°F) and the battery is low, bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature. The battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises above 0°C (32°F). It will charge faster when it warms up.


While the battery is still cold, the Home app will show ‘Charging paused’ or ‘Charging slowly’ and a long estimated charge time. The estimated charge time will get shorter as the battery warms up.
