So after multiple calls with multiple Google representatives, I was hoping to find a solution on this forum. In sum, I have 4 Nest cameras that I use for kids rooms and playrooms. Three of them (1st generation) used to work fantastic until I bought a new second generation a couple of months ago. When I bought the new camera I was forced to migrate all my cameras to the Google Home app which has resulted in an extreme lag in video for the 3 original cameras. When I called the Nest support team they told me it’s because when Google bought Nest they didn’t integrate the 1st generation cameras and they won’t work with the Google Home app. He then suggested I call another team to get a store credit to use towards new cameras. When I told them about the issue they said that Google had a program for it that expired a handful of months ago. In the end, I’m told the only solution is that I’ll have to use multiple apps for different sets of cameras - which as you can imagine isn’t ideal when using them to keep an eye on young kids. Has anyone found another solution?
This is frustrating to say the least - especially when there are so many competitors out there who are known to be cheaper and many of which have better cameras (Arlo, Ring, etc).

We've been a Google Nest customer since 2019, and migrated our Nest Account to a Google Account in 2020, but have continued to use the Google Nest app for all of our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, and have not noticed any lag in our cameras.
We also got a 2nd gen battery camera in 2021, and subsequently a 2nd gen indoor camera, for which we use the Google Home app. However, as your post indicates, we have been using 2 apps ever since.
We have been avoiding "transferring" our 1st gen cameras and doorbells to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app because it still lacks so many Nest app functions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features
The only store credit for cameras that Google Nest offered was for customers who had the old Dropcams, but that offer expired long ago.
