Nest Camera Operational Issue: sound activations at night with nothing but static

Hello!  Writing this for my senior Dad…

 


He has a Nest Indoor Camera operating in his home that is being activated by a sound at EXACTLY the same time each night for 5-15 seconds with nothing but static noise being recorded (video does not show anything either).  The camera is away from other electronics and had been operating for months without any issues.  Issue has now been going on for several weeks.  


Any ideas what may be happening and how to troubleshoot?

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry that your dad is having trouble with his Nest Indoor Camera that activates the sound with no recording event, only static sounds. I understand how frustrating this can be. I can help you with that.

For further assistance. I need to ask a few questions:

  • Does the issue occur on multiple cameras?
  • Is the audio situation persistent or intermittent? If intermittent, how often does it happen?
  • Is the camera in a case or housing?
  • Has the camera suffered any drops or impacts?
  • Hold the mobile device near the camera and make sure both devices are connected to the same network. Then run a network speed test. What are the results of the test?

Note: You can use a speed test to test your network speed.

  • What’s the cellular signal strength on the mobile device?
  • What’s the Wi-Fi signal strength on the mobile device?
