Nest Camera (battery) won't connect to wifi

Steph129

I recently bought a suite of Google Home products. My outdoor Google Nest camera (battery) won't connect to wifi. I have gon through the set up numerous times, charged (and recharged) the device, brought it closer to the router - everything under the sun. The camera still won't connect through the Google Home app. I'm using an iphone (iOS) for set up. Has this problem happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for resolution?

I have exactly the same problem, the camera cannot connect to the cloud.

In the same boat right now. It worked for a few weeks, disconnected one night and won't come back on. Working on at least 8 hours of dealing with Google's awful customer service process to resolve.

i am having this same exact issue!!! my doorbell turned off suddenly and i cannot add it back in the app

Hey there,

I am terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your Nest camera! I'm sure it's frustrating, but I'm happy to look into this and see how we can help out. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. By doing this, it should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help, Brad.

We're sorry to hear that and we appreciate your efforts here. Thanks for trying. No worries, we'll sort this out. A few questions: when did the issue start? What’s the color of the LED status light? How far is your camera from the router? Do you have an Android or iPhone? What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far? Also, what WiFi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

Give these steps a try:

  • Close all the apps running in the background of your phone, reopen the Google Home app then try it again.
  • Bring your phone closer to the camera at least 10 to 12 inches during pairing setup.
  • Restart your router, unplug it from the power outlet wait for 1 to 2 minutes then plug it back in.
  • If you have a dual band WiFi frequency, select the 2.4 GHz WiFi network then try it again.
  • If all else fails, factory reset your Nest Camera (battery).

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT
