Nest Camera with Flood Light (Hardwired) - Battery No Longer Holding Any Charge

My hardwired nest camera is not holding a charge anymore. The flood light still turns on, so there is power attached, but the camera won't change. I have tested all connections and troubleshooting options. This is the second camera to fail.

I'd offer the same comments I offered there: We've had what is basically the same camera, the Google Nest Camera (Battery) plugged in with the optional power cable for 14 months and it's been "Live" and recording 24/7 the whole time through a Minnesota winter. If we unplug it to check the battery level (the only way to do so), it's always been between 77% and 100%. Per Google Nest, "For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en). That should apply to your camera as well; the battery simply should not drain.

The only clue I can offer is to make sure that the power cable on your floodlight camera is plugged in securely and tightly to the bottom of the camera (there have been problems with this) and is feeding towards the FRONT of the camera (some have had the USB connection plugged in the wrong way).

If that does not help, I don't know what to say. I certainly hope your second camera isn't also failing (or, like the other customer, that the USB adapter built into the fixture isn't failing).

Thanks for the suggestions but as noted, I have checked all the connections, and even had the cord screwed in with the provided screw. So it's not user error. Hoping someone from Google comes through here and I can start the replacement process.

Hello Brad,

Thank you for those articles but they are all irrelevant to the issue I am having. As stated in my original posting, my Nest Camera is hardwired directly to the flood light and still will not charge. It is directly, hard wired to a power source and still will not function. The flood light turns on just fine, so it is not an issue of faulty power. So the "charging time" article, "save the battery" article AND the temperature article is not helpful. If you have an article that explains why a properly installed, hard wired camera does not even acknowledge a power source at all, that would be helpful.

But I suspect the camera is defective and needs to be replaced. Can you please direct me towards customer service that and begin a replacement process.

Almost exactly the same scenario with my outdoor hardwired nest cam… floodlight still works, power indicator still on but camera remains in permanent offline state. Hoping that someone can share resolution to this common issue. Best regards.
