Nest Doorbell Always Misidentifying Faces

John_P_E

The Nest Doorbell we recently bought is constantly identifying familiar faces wrong. It identifies one of my daughters as the other every time. I have even deleted all of their photos from the database and let it start fresh, and it still identifies them as the same person. All I can do is continuously delete the misidentified face, only to have it immediately happen again.

Why is there no feature to change the label of a misidentified photo to a new person? This is a feature that I have seen COUNTLESS posts about, yet Google has made absolutely no effort to address it.

You are not listening to your paying customers. I would like to know why, and when is this issue going to be addressed?

I've noticed the same problem.  The app developers should add the option to move individual detections to another name that already exists or let you create a new name.

I agree. This is a topic that has been brought up by many customers, and Google doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. We are paying for this service, and it does not work right. In fact, it consistently works WRONG.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue, I understand how upsetting this could be, but I'm happy to assist you with this issue. I know that this system is a learning system, so it is not yet perfect but it should be at least getting them correctly.

I have learned with my own camera, that if they start to get misidentified, then I clear them out and start over and each time I do that it gets better and better. Not sure if you want to try doing that, but it works well for me. If you have any feedback on this and you continue to see this behavior, please feel free to send it in via the app.

Best Regards,
Brad

Brad,

I have done this several times, and it continues to misidentify people. Starting from scratch every week to try to fix a systemic problem doesn't make sense. Why not just fix the problem that everyone keeps bringing to your attention?

I am sure that Google is aware of this issue, but I cannot promise that I can do anything to fix this for you, unfortunately. The best thing you can do is provide your feedback in the app. As this is not a perfect system, there is always room for improvement. Thank you for bringing your feedback forward.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help, Brad.

I'm sorry about your experience with your familiar face detection. Let's work this out together.

A few questions:

  1. Do you have the Nest Hello doorbell(wired) or the Nest Doorbell Battery?
  2. When did the issue start?
  3. Do you have an iPhone or Android?
  4. Do you have another phone to test if it works?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT
