Nest Doorbell Battery - Live Video Unavailable

Hi,

I have a Nest Doorbell (battery) which does not allow me to view the live video unless the doorbell button is pushed.

When in idle mode, the doorbell wakes up when it detects movement and the green light comes on, however I do not receive a notification on my phone.

When using the Home app, I get the error 'Live Video Unavailable' whenever I try and view the live stream. This also prevents me from being able to set zones as the love video does not display on my phone when entering the zone settings.

 

The only time the doorbell works is when the button is pushed. When this happens I get a notification. Which I can click and can see both the live video and video recording.

Why is this happening? I have already had the unit replaced so it can't be a hardware fault.

I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. Have you checked your wifi out to see if that could be the issue? Also, do you have an active Nest Aware subscription?

Didn't work, neither did the replacement Google sent me.

Looking at other comments in this threads and other similar posts, this is an issue which has been reported by users several times since 2021 and is something Google should already be aware of and working on to resolve.

Ended up switching brands and have had no issues with that doorbell

It turned out to be a hardware issue; camera was defective.  Close the thread.
