Nest Doorbell (Battery) Won’t Hold A Charge

KristinSmall

Hi! We’ve had our Nest system since September (or October) 2021. Last week our doorbell stopped holding a charge. Nothing changed in our settings etc. I will fully charge it and the following day it’s completely drained. Up until last week it would go 3 months or so on a charge. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue and called support. I was 4 months beyond the 1  year warranty and they did nothing for me.

Hi everyone,

@KristinSmall and @Iris, thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing your concern with us. I understand that your Nest Doorbell won't hold a charge anymore and I'm sorry to hear if it's out of warranty. To confirm, how long do you charge it? Have you considered using it hard wired? Let us know your update here.

Regards,
Emerson

Thanks for the reply. I actually was able to figure out our problem. We had two birds begin to build their nest above our front door. Recorded events were never triggered, nor were we receiving notifications of the movement, but the birds flying in front of the doorbell must have been the source of it draining daily. The area the birds were building is not suitable for their nest (I’m glad they determined that themselves), now that they are no longer flying through our porch area, our charge is holding as always. Currently on day 8 of a charge and still at 98%.

Hi everyone,

@mayorbilliam77, we understand what you're referring to however, battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and selected camera settings. You can extend the battery life of your Nest Camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Hit this link for more information.

@Iris, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,
Emerson

same issue, i let it charge to completion.  when i first got the doorbell, it would hold charge 7-8 weeks.

now after a year, it's only hold 3-4 weeks.  Junk,
