Nest Doorbell Battery

Can you add the Nest Doorbell (Battery) to the Nest App? We updated our old wired Nest Doorbell and we were able to see it with our indoor cameras. We are unable to link the new battery powered doorbell to the Nest app, and can only view it in the google home app.

Unfortunately, that's Google Nest's design. The new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website. As a result, they also lack some of the functionality of the older Nest cameras and doorbells.

Google Nest has posted its rationale for this in these blogs on this forum--along with considerable customer reaction. I'm just another Google Nest customer who discovered what you're discovering when we bought a Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021.

Hi,

The Nest doorbell battery only works with the Google Home app and not the Nest app.  Not sure if access will be added to the Nest app in the future but many community members here have requested this.  Can you add your other cameras to the Google Home app?

Thank you for your response - I thought we were ‘upgrading’ with the newer model. Bummer! The google home app is ok - but I do like the layout of the nest app so much better!

Yes - my other cameras are available on the google home app as well, I just prefer the layout of the nest app when viewing my camera streams. I guess something I need to adjust too until they upgrade the battery powered functionality to stream on the nest platform  (if they do). Thanks for your response!

Thanks for answering, MplsCustomer.

Espy1441, I understand that the change from the Nest app to the Google Home app is not easy and would take a lot of time to get used to. Rest assured that well pass your feedback along to our team as we're always working on ways to improve.
