I have installed my Nest Doorbell Camera but I do not get any notification on my Iphone when the camera picks up a person, car, activity, etc. What do I have to do to get my Iphone to notify me (Ping or noise) when an object is picked up on the camera?

Do you have "Push notifications" enabled for your doorbell? Do you have events AND notifications enabled for your doorbell in the Google Home app under Settings | Events | Seen events?

Why can't I get 24 7 coverage on nest battery cam if it's hard wired(plugged in)

Because the battery doorbell ALWAYS runs on the battery even when it is wired. "If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge." (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en)
That's just the way Google Nest designed the battery doorbell. The battery CAMERA (which we have) is designed differently: "Nest Cam (battery) works differently than Nest Doorbell (battery). For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly."
Because of this:
"24/7 video history is not available for the Nest Doorbell (battery), even with optional wired installation."
"The Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to a power source to have 24/7 video history."
