Nest Doorbell Delaminating and Cloudy Video

Very disappointed in the build quality of the Google Nest Hello doorbell. As mentioned by several members, our Nest Hello faceplate is showing signs of delaminating and cracking. The camera lens has also become cloudy thus producing poor images. Google needs to address this issue. I will not recommend this product.

@ETech03

Google Nest keeps telling those of us whose Nest Hello are more than a year old that they "cannot" replace peeling doorbells because the warranty is good for only one year. You could try contacting Google Nest Support to see whether they'll make an exception since your lens is also cloudy. We bought a silicon "skin" to cover up the peeling on ours.

Thank you for the reply and the link. After contacting customer service, they agreed to send me a replacement. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Hi ETech03,

Thanks for visiting the Community. We’re sorry to hear that. I suggest purchasing a cover for your Nest Hello doorbell (wired) to protect its cosmetics which may peel off when exposed to extreme temperatures over time. Let’s check this out — could you fill out this form so we could further investigate.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT

I contacted customer service regarding the issue. They agreed to send me a replacement.

JT,  Google wants me to spend more money on a product that they built with inferior parts? As mentioned previously, the video quality has declined due to the faceplate material breaking down.  I suspect that this issue will gradually get worse. A cover will not rectify this problem. Google needs to be proactive with their customer service and help customers with this issue.
