I've had the Nest Doorbell (Gen1) for 4 years and has been working fine but within the past 2 months the doorbell has stopped working and the app shows "The camera is offline". The doorbell's small green light and large blue light are still illuminated so there is still power to the device. My wifi is located in the living room and is roughly, 40' away from the doorbell and is hardwire for power. All my other devices connect to wifi just fine and my laptop is located around the same area as the doorbell with no wifi issues.
I have tired resetting the doorbell by pushing the small pin and holding down the large blue button for 12 secs. The doorbell then chimes and I am able to reconnect to it like normal and works fine but after 5 mins it will disconnect and display "Camera is offline". The light also changes from dark blue to light blue and doesn't work. I try to reconnect and usually get error codes of NC022 and NC023 after trying to reconnect to wifi. My phone's wifi and bluetooth are working just fine and I've used this phone to setup the doorbell before.
I've also disconnected all wifi devices and only had my phone + nest doorbell connected with the same result.
I've also reset my wifi and setup up a new one as to remove any old settings that may have issues with the doorbell but still does not connect.
I've also tired moving my wifi closer to the doorbell, roughly 20' and still have the same issue.
I've also 'removed camera' from the app, deleted the nest app, restarted my phone then resinstalled the app + camera and still does not connect.
I am not sure what else to do. Doorbell has been working fine for 4yrs. I don't understand why it would connect to wifi when restarted and then disconnect almost immediately. Dont want to purchase another one and have the same issue.

I don't know why it worked until now, but having your doorbell 40 feet from the nearest Wi-Fi access point seems like quite a distance. We have mostly 1st gen cameras and doorbells, starting in 2019. Several years ago we added an inexpensive high-gain Wi-Fi antenna to one of our Linksys access points because one of our 1st gen cameras is 25-30 feet away. And we had to slightly relocate our Wi-Fi router/modem because our front Nest Hello doorbell was going offline even though it is just 10 feet from our router/modem.
The NC022 and NC023 error codes are supposed to indicate a "Bluetooth connection problem" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9240048?hl=en&sjid=17835698501475096279-NC#bluetooth_co...).
I suppose your doorbell could be failing. Our oldest Nest Hello Doorbell is almost 4 years old. Once every few months it goes offline for a few minutes for no apparent reason, but then comes back online by itself.

I was thinking that 40' might be an issue so I moved the wifi distance closer to 20'. I factory reset the Nest Doorbell, connected it to the app and it worked just fine but only for 5 mins and then the connection was lost again. I left the wifi there for 2 days, thinking it might solve itself, but it didn't and I ruled that wifi as an issue (I can still be wrong).
Correct about NC022 and NC023 so I reset my phone's Bluetooth (Xperia 1V) to remove all history and received the same connection issue. I also tested this on another phone (Samsung S22) and \received the same error. I also reset my router during this process without success. I also tired connecting it to a 2.5 ghz and 5.0 ghz channel with no luck.
I don't want to spend full price on a new Nest Door but so I'm currently searching for a used Gen1.

Hi Pencil5678,
Thank you for posting here in the community. I really appreciate the help. @MplsCustomer. I'm sorry that your Nest Doorbell 1st Gen goes offline. I understand how frustrating it could be when you try all troubleshooting steps but it doesn't work. Let's check together more options.
Please try these additional steps:
Wireless interference can prevent your device from connecting to the app.
In some cases, settings on your router or access point could be causing a problem with the connection.
High firewall security or parental controls can block devices from connecting to your Wi-Fi network. Refer to your Wi-Fi router or access point documentation to check if these features are enabled on your network and how you can exempt your Nest Doorbell 1st Gen from these restrictions.
Check our recommended Wi-Fi settings for more detailed configuration options here: Recommended Wi-Fi network and router settings.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Byron
