I have the Google nest doorbell generation two installed on my front door. Prior to this being installed the doorbell chime rang fine when the doorbell was pressed. With this installed the doorbell chime will not ring any longer. If I disconnect, the chime connector, the doorbell ring, but will eventually start buzzing. Has anybody else had this issue and how have you fixed it ??

Hey blrobbins95,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest doorbell. Let’s check it out.
A few questions: what is the color of the status light on the doorbell? What is the power rating of the transformer? Are you using the chime connector that came with the device?
The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. For some installations, you'll need to replace the transformer for your doorbell.
The doorbell must be connected to a transformer rated at 16 to 24 Volts AC and at least 10 VA to receive enough power. 30 VA is recommended for homes that have high-impedance doorbell wiring due to long wire runs or thin doorbell wiring. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power.
Here’s a wiring diagram on how to connect one Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) to one chime.
Also, here’s a handy guide on how to install a Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen).
Let me know if you have any questions.
All the best,
Lance

Lance,
Thanks for your response! The indicator light is green, which I believe would indicate that it’s getting enough power, and therefore means the transformer for the bell is big enough, correct?
I am using the chin connector. I did not if I REMOVE the chime connector it will ring BUT it then starts making a buzzing noise!

Hi blrobbins95,
Thanks for circling back. The best way to confirm the transformer’s power rating is to check its markings. Can you take photos of the transformer and chime connector, then post them here so we can take a look? Below are the steps on how to upload a photo or video:
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Lance

Hello blrobbins95,
Thanks for the photos; we appreciate you checking that for us.
Based on the photos above, the transformer does meet the minimum requirements, as it is rated at 16 volts and 10 VA. However, since the chime doesn’t ring, we’d recommend upgrading the transformer to 16 to 24 volts, 30 VA.
Also, if you are in the US, you can contact our installation partner, OnTech, to help you set up the Nest doorbell.
For all other countries, you can book an appointment with a Nest Pro. Learn more here.
