Nest Doorbell Offline

My doorbell has been Offline for about 10 hours now. I checked power supply and wifi, no issues there. Did a power reset, didn't help. So, wanted to know if there is a system wide Nest server outage causing this Offline before I tried a factory reset on the hardwire Nest doorbell. Please kindly advise. Thank you.

I am literally having this same exact issue currently. Nest hello doorbell (wired)

1.)I upgraded my wifi to 1200 mbps and got a new modem.

2.) I did a factory reset on the device

3.) Changed the wifi server username and password.

4.) My technician who installed it from ontech said “sounds like a power transformer issue to me.” If this works then good but if not then I’m returning it and getting something else, I need 247 security i’m thinking of getting ring or Vivint not sure yet. Let me know what happens man thanks.

I did a factory reset, removed the camera from the app, and re-setup again, and everything is back to normal.

I think what could have happened is - I changed the SSID broadcast setting in my router, i.e. "hide" my SSID. So, after a scheduled routine reboot of the router, the camera could not find or connect to the "hidden" network. So, resetting the camera to connect to the hidden network seemed to solve my issue.

Note: When I installed the Nest doorbell, I have changed both the transformer and chime to new ones, as I thought the old one was not working or not enough power, turns out it was a software bug in the camera firmware itself, where the mechanical chime will not ring until you play with the chime duration inside the app to "trigger" the chime to actually ring. Long story short, this is how I know for sure it is not my 30VA transformer that is causing the issue, and my other camera at the front door has no issue with the 2.4G wifi.

Good luck, hope you solve your offline problem soon.

Hey folks,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. I have some questions I’d like to ask you first:

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far not listed in this thread?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Yes, still need help with this. Without any changes to router, it’s position, or network. Next door bell continuously started to lose network connection here and there. Then everyday at random times and now completely offline. Even with hard reset attempts with google support on call. Support indicated that they will post me a replacement after getting confirmation. And later emailed me that they will not send me a replacement for this faulty device.

Hi there, Zhome.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had this issue! Especially with the replacement inquiry. I would definitely be frustrated if I were in your position. I would try to factory reset the device. It could also be related to a Power Requirement if it is not powering on, or staying connected. Do you have the Nest Hello Battery Doorbell? Or the Wired Nest Hello Doorbell? Please let me know. I look forward to your response.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Same here, and google bluntly refuse to change my door bell.
