Nest Doorbell (battery) compatibility with Honeywell Chime

Is the Nest Doorbell (battery) compatible with Honeywell DW315?

I have a 12v (1A) transformer.

The doorbell _seems_ happy when connected directly to the transformer - the battery life goes to infinite and it gives me the option of using an indoor chime.

If I connect via the Honeywell chime, then all seems fine for a while - the chime rings when the button is pressed and the battery life is infinite, but after a couple of days, I noticed that the chime was no longer sounding. I checked all the wiring and it worked fine again for about an hour, before stopping.

The chime itself works fine with a 'dumb' illuminated push button.

Hi there.

I would suggest you check out this article here for more information on compatibility.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,

Which part of that article are you referring to?

I've read it many times as it's the only source of information, but there's nothing there that seems relevant.

Cheers,
Ian

If its not on the page, your device is not compatible. It will only work with the provided specs on that page.

Best regards,

Brad.

As per my original question, the specs. do seem to match, but it still doesn't work.

  • 12V (1A) is within the required 8 to 24 V AC/10 to 40 VA range.
  • The chime is wired and has optional batteries (I've tried both setups).
  • "The Nest Doorbell (battery) doesn't need the chime connector."

I had hoped that, even if Google themselves hadn't tested with this chime, someone would be able to say that they'd got it working (or not), or suggest some troubleshooting, or alternative setups (such as, would the chime connector work with this doorbell?).

Brad,

I just installed my Wired Nest Hello to a working Mechanical door bell system. I can't get the mechanical chime to work when the chime connector is installed. When I remove the chime connector from the mechanical chime the chime works well.  It's like the chime connector is bad and not allowing small voltage to pas through to enable charging of the Nest Hello internal battery. I don't know what to do from here. Please advise.

I am unfortunately not an electrician, so I wouldn't be able to help you there but if this is a faulty chime connector, then I would look into getting a replacement if it's still under warranty. Support could assist you with that. Just fill out the information, click Next and then you'll get some help.

Best regards,

Brad.
