Nest Doorbell (gen 1) won't connect to google wifi

I have factory reset this doorbell at least 50x over the past year. It used to work for a few days and now it'll only connect for about 15 seconds after setting it up. I've read in multiple places that this is an issue with the google wifi not differentiating it's 2.4gz and its 5gz bands and the doorbell can't connect to the 5gz band. I tried setting up a guest network and it didn't work. There's got  to be a solution here. Nest is owned by google and having their own products not work with each other is insane.

Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Doorbell 2nd gen is not connecting to Google WiFi, but there's no need to worry; I'm happy to assist you right now.

Please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • Has the Nest Doorbell been paired before?
  • What’s the color of the LED light on your Nest Doorbell?
  • How far is the Nest Doorbell from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there any other devices that experience issues with the WiFi?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

Everything else in my house connects fine. It used to connect, but stopped a year ago. I have never had a single issue with any other smart device connecting other than my doorbell. The doorbell is about 8ft from the router. The light on it was green.

Hi ,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my questions and the valuable information you provided me. I'm happy to continue assisting you right now.

I recommend troubleshooting the camera and the WiFi network. Please follow the steps below:

  • Check if the Nest Doorbell has power; please connect it to a power outlet.
  • Check the LED status light on your Nest Doorbell. If there is no LED status light or ring light on the Nest Doorbell, check if the device is turned off on the Google Home app or Nest app.
  • Check the Nest Doorbell if it receives power.
  • Restart the Nest Doorbell
  • Unplug the modem and router power cords. Wait for 30 seconds, then plug the modem and router back in.
    • The modem and router restart. Wait a couple of minutes or until the router shows a steady power and connection light.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Gabriela
