Nest Doorbell not ringing

joemac
Community Member

have had a wired doorbell cam for a couple few years now.  All good until recently had video connectivity issues.  Everything told me to pull and reset which I did.  Video is fine now but no more chime.

Temp - mid 50's.

Location - Middle TN

Video - perfect so wifi is ok

Touched wires together for old school ring - fine (our dogs agree)

What next?

(side note  as I was removing unit the camera cover popped off.  WIll have to superglue back on.  Doorbell under covered front porch, due north facing (no UV damage) so disappointed I have to re-glue after a couple years.

Hey joemac,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Could you check the breaker or power outlet to see if your chime gets enough power? Also, check the the chime settings in the app. Follow the steps below.

Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Doorbell > Check that Ring indoor chime is set to On.
  4. Tap More Quiet Time, then tap Cancel if it's active.

Nest app

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Select your doorbell.
  3. Tap Settings > Indoor chime On/Off > Quiet Time.
  4. If Quiet Time is on, tap it to reveal the switch. Tap the switch to turn it off.
  5. Next, check the chime duration. Tap Chime duration in the settings menu.
    • If you have a mechanical chime with moving parts that ring the bell, this option should be set to Off.
    • If you have a digital chime (with internal speaker and no moving parts), and the chime duration is set too short, the chime may not make any sound or only make part of the chime sound. Try to set it to a longer duration.

Thanks,
Archie

I have nest app on my S9 and no 'quiet time'.  I had moved the duration to 4 seconds thinking that was a prob per your reply it is not and now that it is off the outdoor unit rings but nothing inside.  Mechanical bell.  INstalled about 5 years ago.

don't know, sorry.

Now my outside bell thru the unit is no longer working.  I have found where / how to test the mechanical bell transformer.   UNfortunately mine is not working so it will be a bit before I can test in the meantime see if this helps
