My previous nest hello has been working beautifully until January 16, 2024 at 0427. I began receiving the message "your camera is offline.' Multiple attempts have been made to reconnect the camera. Power was identified as the status light was on, but no connection to my wifi was made. As this was a first gen nest hello and has been up and running since 2018, I assumed it was time to replace the device. I purchased a wired gen 2 doorbell and installed it physically. However, after connecting to my wifi and adding the camera to my google home app, the installation process on my mobile device stated "installing this may take several minutes." After multiple attempts, I repeatedly received the message "there may be a problem Something may have gone wrong during set up. you may have to reset your device."
I have a google mesh as well as google fiber for my ISP. I have restarted both the modem and the mesh as well as the device itself. I disconnected devices from my wifi to decrease the usage. I even attempted to delete and reinstall the app on my mobile device as a solution. I still receive the same message about there being a problem. Are there any troubleshooting ideas I haven't tried? I feel naked without my doorbell camera.

While your transformer may be providing some power, it may not be enough to power the unit properly. Would suggest looking at your transformer and how much power is actually being provided. Also you can try turning off your indoor chime as that can reduce power demand as well.

Thank you! I did make sure this was compatible with the power supply before purchasing. Otherwise I would have bought the battery operated option. I appreciate the help!

I believe the new (gen 2) doorbell has a different "puck" that goes inside your doorbell on the wall in the house. Did you swap out the old puck for the new one?
Also Asehpherdson's idea of looking at the transformer as a possible issue is a good place to start. I seem to remember that the new doorbells require more power than the old Nest Hello doorbells.
By the way, I went down this road 2 years ago and I didn't like the limited functionality in the Google Home app compared to the NEST app. Plus I have other gen 1 cams that were in the Nest app only. I didn't like needing to juggle between the 2 apps. Google is working to bring the NEST app functions over to the Google Home app and they have made very good progress in the last year. But they are not quite there yet for me. So I ended up buying a used NEST HELLO doorbell from Ebay and it has been going strong for me.
Lastly, here is a link to open a support ticket with Google which will get you connected with an actual google tech person. But they will for sure ask you about the transformer so you may want to look into that first.
Hope this helps

Thank you. I had to purchase a new camera and was already toggling between the home and nest app. I was using the google home app for the install. Still not sure what suddenly switched to fix itself, but somehow it’s now working.

Not sure what happened, but I left the whole system alone for a couple of hours. When I returned home, my daughter asked if she could ring the new doorbell. I said sure but it’s not working. Well, it rang and I got a notification on my phone. No idea what happened or how it fixed itself, but now it’s working perfectly.

That is great news! Glad it is now working. I'm not sure why the delay either other than it had to get fully installed in the Google Nest Servers.
Also, if you read thru this forum you made a great decision by NOT going with the (battery) version. People are posting 'issues' with it.
