Nest Doorbell wired won't stay online

Hello,

My nest doorbell stop connecting to my Wi-Fi and is most likely having internal power issues. The nest app shows it offline and maybe once a day, it comes back online for 2 minutes before disconnecting again.

When the camera is offline, the front of the camera has a faint blue ring and a flashing green light. The green light stays solid for 5 seconds, then off for half second and repeats continuously while offline in the app.

I've done a factory reset and reinstalled with the same results.

I've plugged it in via USB to try to charge the internal battery overnight but it doesn't stay on for more than 5 minutes when reinstalled.

Voltage at my doorbell measures 22V.

What are my options to fix this? I purchased the Nest Hello in 2021.

HI @MikeG1624

Thanks for bringing your concern to our attention and posting it in the community. I apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced with your Nest Hello Doorbell

I understand that you are having issues with your doorbell because it's going offline multiple times.

Before trying any additional steps, please reply to the following:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • How far is the camera from the router?
  • Do you have other Nest devices in the house?
  • Are there other devices connected to the same WiFi where the camera is connected?

Once you share this information, we can look for a resolution to make your device work as expected.

Thanks,

Catheryn.

Hi @catheryn ,

The issue started ~ 2 weeks ago. The only error message is the 'camera offline' notification in the nest app. The doorbell camera is about 25' from the main router and I have 4 other indoor and outdoor cameras in the nest ecosystem conencted and working fine. The further outdoor camera is ~ 60' from the router and has no issues with connectivity.

When I brought the doorbell camera inside to attempt to charge the internal battery, the doorbell camera was ~ 15' from the router and only connected for 5 minutes before going offline again.

Hi MikeG1624,

Thanks for your reply. I recommend you try the next troubleshooting steps:

If the doorbell is running on battery power, check the remaining charge if it is low.

  • If the battery status displays a low battery (< 20% charge), connect to an indoor adapter or wire terminals.
  • If the doorbell is connected to a wired system, proceed to the next step.

Check for interference: Please check if you have any interference devices near your Nest Doorbell, like:

  • Cordless phone
  • Baby monitors
  • Microwaves
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Wireless video equipment

Restart your Nest Doorbell:

  • For Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen): On the back of the doorbell, press and hold the reset pin hole for 5 seconds.
  • For Nest Doorbell (battery): On the back of the camera, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.

Try to connect your Nest Doorbell at another network or hotspot; if it connects or not, please let me know.

I will be waiting for your response. And Let me know if this helps!

Regards,

Manuel
