I have a Nest Floodlight Cam that I had to remove from my Google Home due to issues (done this a number of times) and now when trying to add it back it to Google Home I get the dreaded "Something went wrong / Setup is taking longer than expected" message at the end of the configuration set up process. My floodlight cam is accessible and I can turn it on/off using the Google Home app so this says to me that the device is connected to my network. It's just the camera that is causing issues and that doesn't make sense as I could see the video feed during the set up process.
The Camera connects to my Wi Fi as I can ping the IP address and I can see the image during the set up process.
I have a Netgear Orbi router R850 with a number of Mesh Satellites (S850) and I have never had this issue in the past. I am running the latest firmware for the Orbi and I have the latest Google Home version. I have also tried the same process using an iPad with the latest IOS software and the latest Google Home and I get the exact same issue.
I have gone and turned off all the Orbi Satellites to make sure there is no issue there and my router is about 5 meters away from the floodlight cam so there are no issues there either.
This issue seems to be an on-going problem for many people that never seems to be resolved by Google and is only ever fixed by someone being persistent with factory resets (I have done the factory reset about 5 times already).
Some real help from Google would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
I recently installed a new Router and had to change my wifi settings. Now I cannot connect the cameras. I have done everything.
Everything including- factory reset, uninstall then re-install G home app, turned of phone, internet & wifi on off.
I have read all these threads and done what was recommended to no avail. 1 other person has the same issue who had to return the cameras. While looking for devices I have scanned the QR code, then typed in the code, reset cameras 3 times. Followed every step, then preparing your devise, connecting to joining devise... to something went wrong. The only other thing that I can think off is throwing these frustrating cameras in the bin and getting something else. The support help is broad and self explanatory basic stuff, if anyone has a solution other than what I have done on repeated attempts that would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Going on two days now my floodlight/camera attempts the last step of setting up device then goes into a Something went wrong- setup is taking longer than normal. Changed band of 2.4 and 5ghz, added a range extender and still same issue. Factory reset Floodlight/Cam and same issue. Grabbed the original floodlight camera which was 2 day old (feed was showing lines in infared) and same issue. Setup goes through and I am able to see live view. Camera adds to google home and floodlight but the horrible last step "finishing up setup" then - something went wrong, Setup is taking longer than normal. I can quit setup and go into activity zones to see a live feed but the camera itself just opens to the settings of the camera when selecting. Called google yesterday and got "Oh we can remove all your devices from your home app and delete the app". Yeah, OK buddy, I have 52 devices so no way. Not to mention the old camera, which joined fine 2 days ago, is throwing the same error. Put on hold for 15 minutes to be told, Oh, the Google Home App is down. Our engineers are currently working on it. Should be good by tomorrow. Guess what still not able to add a day later. Day two and hours in 90 degree weather still Setup is taking longer than normal. Google, step your game up here and at least send out an email or notification to your users. Your security systems are not cheap and the technology is on par with Nest products which came out years ago. Don't mind paying for the name if your backend, app/ecosystem was functional. Setup should not need so many "Finishing Setup" sections.

I've seen a few posts in this forum where rebooting one's router/modem sometimes resolves odd issues like this, though I don't know why it should.

Same problem with two new Google cams. Setup fails at the last step, then I get a "something went wrong" error. Two calls to technical support. They couldn't get it to work either.

This a frustrating problem and it seems Google never has any answers. I believe the problem is that during set up the new cam tried to speak to other existing (Nest/Google) devices to join. If you are not in a distance range the install fails and give the “something went wrong error”. Start the install following the instructions and walk your phone close to a nest thermostat, camera, etc amd the install completes. The Nest thermostats have the same issue.
