Nest HELLO Doorbell (wired): Cannot get rid of movement notifications

SdeGat

A few weeks ago, my Nest doorbell started to give me movement notifications for anything remotely close to my house. It is very annoying. 😩

I did not change my configuration and movement notification is not on.
I did a reset with the button in the back of the doorbell. No change.

Can anyone help me out. 💁‍

Thanks for following up @Brad. I may have resolved my problem actually.
I have found two places to change the « movement » setting. One on the camera screen as a pop-up from the bottom (where it was already unchecked) but there is another one in the overall Nest settings (where it was not unchecked).
I assume that the first one only applies to the Nest doorbell while the other would apply to all the connected Nest devices? What if I want motion detection on one camera and not the doorbell?

I had a similar issue and worked with support for 2 months trying everything to no avail.  Initially, everything was great.  Then suddenly, everything was detected as movement.  I turned notification for that off and only left  notification for people.  Then it started to detect cars as people and message me all night!  I tried the zones to limit it. I eventually had to turn it all off.

What's weird was what registered as a person on the Nest app did not register as a person on the Google Home app!  As support was getting me to mess with the device itself, I kept pointing to the fact it may be due to a software!  They didn't listen. I eventually cancelled my Nest Aware because I accidentally removed my home.  I recently set my home back up, and to my surprise the camera doesn't detect everything as a person anymore.  However, I'm dealing with other issues.  Can't win.

OMG this is depressing. ☹️

I appreciate the input @Beekay but this is not good news. It is weird because the doorbell had been working fine previously before starting to act up.  And person detection is not listed anymore as well. 😩
Note I never had the Aware subscription.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this, but I believe that Activity Zones will help you out in this situation. You can learn more about them here. I hope you find the article helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

@Brad , thanks for the note. However, there is no Activity Zone control on this doorbell.
Why can’t I turn off movement detection? (Actually, it is not selected, so already off?)

If you do not have an active Nest Aware subscription, I do not understand why you would be getting these notifications. Were you on a trial that has ended?

Brad

I had a trial on the battery doorbell that I had before but I did not get a trial on this wired one (that replaced the previous battery doorbell).

Did you replace your Nest Doorbell (battery) with the 1st gen Nest Hello? Or with the new Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen (wired)? This is definitely strange to get motion alerts if you do not have an active Nest Aware subscription. I would suggest that you go through the process to factory reset your doorbell. Please let me know how that goes.

Yes @Brad , I did replace my Nest Doorbell (battery) with the 1st gen Nest Hello.

That was because the Nest Doorbell (battery), which I preferred, did not work in the winter months when it is cold. If I had known about the new (white) wired doorbell was coming, I would have gotten that one…

That would generally be correct. If you have notifications going out to any smart display or speakers, unless Visitor Announcements are turned off, you will get the notifications there. But that should do the trick, as it seems it is working that way now for you. If you have any further issues with this process, please let me know.

Hi everyone,

@SdeGat it's us again. Yes that's right you can enable or disable the motion detection from your app. We can consider this one complete so let us know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

I appreciate the help, Brad.

Regards,
Emerson
