Nest Hello Doorbell wired not able to connect to Nest Home

misspotatohead

I have a Nest Hello Doorbell (wired) and installed it today. I went through all the steps and then when trying to connect to the Nest Home App via assistance from other devices, unable to connect - continue to receive the NC030 error - I have tried all the troubleshooting steps. I tried using Google Home but it takes me back to the Nest Home app. I am frustrated and would like some help to resolve this issue - seems I’m not the only one having this problem. I have loved the Nest cameras since they came out - and have not had any problems until now. Please help.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience with your Nest Doorbell as well as for the delay. Let's take a closer look into this.

A few questions — do you have other Nest devices on your home? How far is it from the Nest Doorbell (wired)? What is the color of the LED lights on your Nest Doorbell (wired) during setup?

Your Nest doorbell (wired) will try to get Wi-Fi information from the other Nest product in your home during setup. Make sure that they are both online and within range. You can check this article on how to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages to learn more.

Best,

Steve

she says she has tried all the troubleshooting steps. The link you provided are the same troubleshooting steps provided by the app during setup, so I’m sure she tried those   I am having the same issue.  Are there any other solutions available.?   I have every nest item that it says it connects too, and even took two cameras and  plugged them in and set them right by the doorbell, but it didn’t make any difference.  Is there any other way to connect besides using the nest app.  Home app won’t allow it and directs you to nest.   What if someone had no other google nest products?

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out @Kosman. I'm afraid that you can only set the Nest Doorbell (wired) using the Nest app. Here are some additional steps you can try:

  1. Set up using a different phone.
  2. Create a new home and add the Nest Doorbell (wired).
  3. Remove the other Nest devices and pair the Nest Doorbell first.

Keep us posted. Stay safe.

Regards,

Steve

If I create a new home, will I be able to add the doorbell without adding anything else?

Ok guys - finally got it to work - and yes - i ended up creating a new home and did not add any cameras - and added the doorbell that way - worked like a charm. so i have one home with all the cameras and another home named doorbell for the doorbell - the alerts all come in fine - you just  have to switch homes to see the live feed. my next step would be to add all the cameras to the NEW home however - no way to do that without the QR code or the camera codes which of course i don't have - maybe i'll move them over one day but for now i'm just happy to have it working - awkward to say the least.
