Nest Wired Camera's - Alerts do not stay on phone long enough to read

I have just installed Nest Wired Indoor Camera's - everything appears to work fine except when I get notifications about the camera's seeing or hearing something, they appear on my iPhone for a few seconds and then disappear.  Is there a way to keep the messages on your phone screen until you clear them (like text messages you get)?
