Nest Wired Doorbell (2nd Gen) still doesn't have SDM API support?

Generally, it takes about a month for Google to add SDM API support for their Nest products. The new Nest Wired Doorbell has been out for three months... and the SDM API is still not available? Any updates on this issue?

Still waiting too.

Also still waiting, it’s been nearly a year since Google has made any updates to the SDM API. This seems like typical behavior from them, they bought Nest and now they’re slowly abandoning it.

Seriously considering dumping all my Nest products at this point, I fear that one day Google will abruptly drop support for them and I’ll be stuck with expensive bricks.

Google, please add SDM support for this doorbell. There are NUMEROUS threads asking for it. I don’t want to have to move to a battery model

It was a real kick in the pants once I realized the 2nd gen wired doorbell didn't have SDM API support yet. Sadly, this is very typical of Google to leave many products half-baked and their users in the dark with regard to if (or when) proper support will ever arrive.

Joining in to say I too am impatiently waiting for this device to receive SDM API support. Really no reason it should take over three months to receive a feature that should've been included day one.

Community Specialists will keep closing the thread so I guess we'll just need to keep creating posts here.

@tjk

Feature Requests are very different from seeking assistance with a concern you may be experiencing with your cameras and doorbells. We welcome these requests here, but if you wish your request to be sent to developers and engineers, it is best to submit it over the app. This is not a current feature, so we are unable to assist you further with it. We do not have any available information on if, and or when this feature could possibly become available in the future.

Best regards,

Brad

Hey Brad. I am afraid there is some confusion. All Cameras have SDM support, this new one doesn't. It's not a feature request. We are asking for something that is there by default for all cameras, something Google/Nest provided to us as part of the ecosystem. I wouldn't buy this new product and I will return it if SDM support doesn't happen. Think of it as if this new device didn't have a notifications system built in. Would people buy it?
We expect it to have SDM support by default. Not by a feature request. If this is not part of the product roadmap already and we need to request it, let us know, please. It's super-important.

Agreed 100%. Google's biggest competitors all launch similar products with this same exact access day one. I really wish Google would finally figure this out before everyone starts to slowly migrate over to another ecosystem whose company actually listens and implements requested features in a timely manor.

Don't get me wrong I really do like Google/Nest products, but man being a fan is unnecessarily frustrating sometimes.

Hi folks,

Sorry for the inconvenience not having this feature may cause. I understand that the new Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen (wired) may be lacking features it had before, but if it is not available at this time, and you are requesting it, this is still treated as a feature request. Please share your experience and feedback with the links we have provided. At this time, this feature request thread will be closed. If you wish to open up a new thread regarding a different concern, please feel free to.

Best regards,

Brad
