Hi,
I have the Google Nest Doorbell battery and it's working using the wires from the previous install. It doesn't charge the battery but it runs on power over the cable. The battery just sits at 70% as back up.
Two queries,
If the wires work in this situation does this mean it will also power the Nest wired doorbell?
secondly,
if so, are there any advantages with upgrading?

If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge. To help prolong the life of your doorbell's battery, it will only charge up to to around 75% if the doorbell is wired to your doorbell system.
