I just purchased two battery powered nest cameras and installed them. They are fully charged, I’ve set up the activity zones, turned on notifications on my phone, and I am not receiving notifications. My nest doorbell performs this function well. Why is this happening?

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. Restart your devices, and then you then try giving that a go, and then make sure you have your notification settings set up how you like. I would check on any updates to your app as well, and check out the Google Home app settings under notifications.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Matt,  A few people who have had this problem have reported that a FULL SHUT DOWN of their phone and a reboot will fix the problem.  Let me know if that works.

I'm having an issue with Google Home as well.  My Nest Cam Battery will only receive push notifications for 1-3 days then I will stop receiving them.  It stills records all events I just stopped getting notified.  The only way to "sometimes" fix it is to clear the app data and cache or reinstall the Google Home app which will work for another 1-3 days max.  My non migrated account Nest Indoor Camera works flawlessly through the Nest app.  This is of course deterring me from migrating my Nest account over to Google as the Home app is flawed.  Of all the apps I have ever had, Google Home is the only one that has ever stopped sending notifications.  Extremely frustrating.  Please also consider adding Email notifications like the Nest App rather than just push notifications.  That will at least offer a fail-safe.  It will also do this on my tablet as well with the same problem.  Makes the Nest Cam Battery a useless security camera!

I'm with you, pretty useless security camera if you don't get notifications.  All my devices on my Nest app work perfect.  This camera has to use the Google Home app for setup.  I'm also new to the forums.  Where the hell is the solution to this problem.  Just lots of people having the same issue with no solution.

I charged my Nest battery doorbell for the first time and now it has stopped sending notifications. I have checked all settings on my Android phone. I have restarted the Andriod.  Nothing helps. I need an answer.

My Google Nest Doorbell (battery) originally had 2 options to display the remaining battery life when you clicked on the device (from Google Home).  One option was displayed in percentage of battery, and the other option was in remaining time (usually in weeks, days, etc.).  This suddenly went away and now the only option is percentage.  At the same time this change happened, the frequency of notifications went down significantly.  Originally, the doorbell was always sending notifications for every single event, regardless of the frequency between events.  Now, it sends notifications only if a number of minutes (that seems to be about 10 minutes) have elapsed since the last event.  So if the doorbell is triggered and a notification is sent at, let’s say 8:00PM, any event occurring between 8:00PM and 8:10PM will only be recorded (without notification).  This means, theoretically, an intruder knowing this loop in the system would have 10 minutes after observing the homeowner leaving the house to operate without any notice being sent to the home owner.  This does not make sense at all for a device that doubles as a security device.  This was not the case with the previous software version.  Evidently, there was an automatic update that messed up things.  I also would like to see the second option for the battery life indicator reinstalled. Could Google Nest please take care of this issue?
