Nest cam (indoor) power

Killyridols

Hello,

I cannot find what is the power needed for the Nest Cam indoor.

I bought an UPS with a USB socket 5V and 3A but it seems not to be enough for the cam. The led blinks and the camera goes offline

As soon as I plug the USB in the nest charger the cam works, so it must be an issue of the ups.

Which power output should I look for?

Thanks

Simone

Hello,  I'm an end user.  I tried to search on the web and it looks like the camera might require 15Volts instead of the normal 5Volts that a USB adapter supplies.   Do you have the original power adapter for the camera?  It should say right on it.  To the best of my knowledge, you want to look at the OUTPUT side and it should list volts and amps or watts.   You will want to match the voltage exactly.  The amps or watts is typically a minimum.  So if you have an adapter with more amps or watts it should work as long as the voltage is correct for what the camera wants to see.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

If the cam requires 15 volts, then that is my issue. I have a mini UPS with usb output at 5v, no 15 volts output unfortunately.

So I guess my only option is to change the UPS.

thanks

Just to be clear I'm not sure it is 15 volts.  I'm hoping someone here can look on their power adapter and tell us what it says for output Volts and Amps or Watts.

Hello everyone,

@Killyridols thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that you're having this issue. To confirm, what type of Nest camera indoor do you have? Is it the battery or wired type? If possible, can you send us the photo of your Nest camera and its power adapter. Make sure that its voltage and ampere are visible in the photo.

Keep me posted.

@EmptyNester I appreciate your response.

Thanks,
Emerson
