Nest cam keeps going offline

My two Nest Cams (battery, one is hooked up with a power cable) worked fine for several months and I was really satisfied. A few weeks ago one camera started giving me messages that the device is offline. The AP is very close (15ft) and as it was never an issue in the past poor signal can't really be the culprit. Network Management Software also shows a 91% Wifi Score for the cameras.

I tried the factory reset and things improved for a short period of time. Now problems are coming back and it cuts out >20 times a day which is frustrating and annoying. Nights here don't get colder than -5°C and winter has passed, so this cannot be the problem either.

Anyone else have a sudden surge in such notifications?

@mogli_ger

Which camera keeps going offline, the one that is plugged in with a power cable or the one running on battery power?

(We have had a battery camera plugged in with the optional power cable for 19 months now, and it's been "Live" ever since, with just a couple of brief instances of being offline.  Those two instances were in the last week, but I think they may have been due to a Wi-Fi issue.)

It's the one running on battery power. The other one cut out two or three times maybe, but nothing in comparison.

I have one Nest Battery powered and have loved it since I got it last fall. For the past three weeks it has goes offline several times per day and I have had to charge it twice within 10 days. Not sure of something needs a update but I am getting very frustrated with it.

Ok maybe this helps other people:

I changed the settings on my Ubiquiti Access Point so that it actively steers the devices to use the 5 GHz band instead of 2.4 GHz. The problem has not occured since. Not sure what was changed in the camera software to start this issue but this made it go away.

Mine is set on the 5Ghz already. I just checked. Thanks anyway.

My camera was already on the 5Ghz wifi. I did leave the public preview to see if that was part of the problem. It seems to be better and not going offline as much.

I switched back to the public preview yesterday. It hasn’t shown the camera issues I had previously. Maybe it’s a glitch with that. Thanks.
