My nest cam video live feed works great on my iPhone when I’m home and connected to the same wifi. But if I turn off wifi on my phone (even if I’m in the same room as the camera), it doesn’t work. Very frustrating, as one of the reasons I bought it was to keep an eye on the house when I’m not home. Any solutions?

Turns out you can’t watch the live stream when you’re away from home unless your phone is connected to wifi or a hotspot 🙄 They don’t mention that in the advertisements…

Seems it magically fixed itself, and it’s now working without wifi. Weird! Thanks again @EmptyNester for all your help 😊

Hi, the only thing that comes to mind is do you have Cellular data turn ON? (assuming you are on an iPhone).
If it is then you may have to get help from a google tech. Here is the link to start the process....

I do. Thanks for the link. I’ll contact a tech 😢

Really? I do it all the time but I have always had the nest aware subscription. So you could spend $6.00/month for the 1st month and try it out I guess.

I have the subscription, but I can’t see it on my phone unless my phone is connected to wifi. Can you see it on your phone using data?

Yes, I do it quite often. Which nest camera do you have? Mine are all the previous gen 1 cams.
Honestly, I would create a new support ticket and see if you get a difference answer from a different tech person. That makes no sense.

I didn’t think it made sense. Good idea about asking another tech person. I have the new indoor/outdoor model. I’ll be annoyed if things have changed and you can’t watch it away from home! Thanks for your help and advice.
