Nest camera turns off then have to manually turn on constantly

Hello,

The nest camera turns off on our office (faces the hallway).  The screen will turn on then it goes black after about 5 minutes and I have to turn it on or reset it.  Electricity is fine (we had the electrician check)-any suggestions?

We also have a Google Nest Camera (Battery).  It is plugged in all the time with the optional 10-meter power cord, so I'm curious about what you're really reporting. When you say the screen goes black, are you saying that, when you're viewing your camera feed on a Nest Hub or from the Google Home app, the screen on the Nest Hub or the camera feed in the Google Home app goes black? And when you say you have to turn it on or reset it, are you saying you have to reset the Nest Hub, or restart the Google Home app, or reset the camera? (I don't know what you mean by "turn it on.").  And whey you say the camera turns off, do you mean the lights on the camera go off?

Whenever we view our Google Nest Camera (Battery) in the Google Home app or from a Nest Hub, we always get a live feed. And while we don't view the live feed for really long stretches of time, we have done it for more than five minutes several times with no problems. And our camera always has a green light. (We also have a Nest Aware Plus subscription.)

Hey there,

Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.

You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Brad
