Nest doorbell (battery) keeps chiming once wired

Hi,

Ive had a chime for years and it was functioning fine. I got a nest doorbell as part of ADP package and once I connect both wires the chime wouldn’t stop. It seems that the nest doorbell is letting the current through even when it’s not suppose to. I had no choice but to remove the wires so I can get some peace. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes, all video doorbells send some power at all times which is what they have to do to keep the camera working. There should be a small white "puck" that you need to install in the actual chime in your house up on the wall.  It should have come with the camera.

Thanks for the feedback, however I have a wireless doorbell that doesn’t come with a puck as supposed to the wired nest doorbell.

Is this something I can easily find? I cannot find one online…

The battery doorbell doesn't use a chime puck.  You just connect the two wired.  You may have a defective doorbell (unless perhaps the doorbell button is stuck).  The doorbell should trickle charge when wired, but still runs on battery power.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the help.

So the problem is because of one of the wire cover is damaged and it’s touching the doorbell mound. I suspect there’s a short circuit that causes the doorbell to chime all the time. Once I trimmed the wire it’s working fine. Thanks everyone!
