Nest doorbell (battery) not an option to add

Hi,

I have added my doorbell to google home but I am now trying to add it to the nest app and when I click add, the barcode cannot be picked up, and when I try to enter it manually, the nest doorbell battery is not in the list of products to add. 

Do I need to choose doorbell (wired) instead to add it? I have a feeling that this is not the case.

Apologies if I have missed anything here, this is my first post.

Google is taking over on some products, so the new battery doorbell is just the google product, and not the Nest's, so it's only available in the Home app, and not in Nest app. the only google - hello door bell is joint venture from Google and Nest , so can be seen in both apps

All new "Nest" products including doorbells and Cameras, only work in the Google Home App. Google is deprecating the older Nest App in favor of the Google Home App and migrating all the Nest devices into one application. Good or bad decision aside, they will continue to enhance the Google Home app since it contains many more products (works with Google devices like power outlets, lights, etc.), and promote the single application. they are also coming out with a web interface for the Google Home products just like the Nest website (next year 2022).

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration. 

 

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.
