Nest doorbell (battery) will not connect with Google home after factory reset.

Battery ran out during vacation and doorbell shut down. We fully charged it when we got home and it was fine for a few hours, but then the camera turned off and it said that the camera will turn back on after it cooled. The device was cool to the touch. So I did a reset and there was no change, so I did a factory reset and removed it from Google home. Now I can't get it to connect back to my Google home. I rebooted my router and tried all of the recommended options I could find. Please advise.

Hey Galfiz,

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Could you tell us the status light of your doorbell? What error message are you getting when setting it up? Also, did you make any changes to your Wi-Fi network?

Thanks,

Archie

Hi Archie,

Right now the status light is out, since it is not yet connected to my Google Home account and it is sitting next to me on the desk. When I try to connect it to the Google Home account it just says it cannot connect and to try again or exit setup. While it is plugged in, the status light starts at white then starts flashing blue. No changes were made to our wifi network.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your help, Archie.

Thanks for trying. Let's dig deeper into this — a few questions:

  1. How far is the device from the router?
  2. Do you have an Android or iPhone?
  3. Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  4. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device they want to pair? Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Quit and restart the Nest or Google Home app.
  2. Restart the router, unplug it from the wall outlet for 2 minutes then plug it back in.
  3. Before adding the camera to your Google Home app, close all the apps running in the background of your phone reopen the Google Home app then try it again.
  4. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Toggle the Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  5. Try moving your camera close to your router at least 3 to 5 feet during pairing setup.

Let me know how it works.

Regards,
JT
