outdoor wireless camera keeps unmounting itself over time

We have two outdoor wireless google cameras. One has been fine but recently, we've had our other one unmount itself twice in the last month or so. We have had no recent snow or ice and our climate has been primarily dry with rain at times. Thankfully, it has not yet cracked despite being mounted ~11 feet in the air. However, the surface is completely clean and it is very frustrating that it stays on initially and then pops off. Not sure what to do about it?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue, I understand how upsetting this could be, but I'm happy to assist you with this issue. Are you making sure that the camera is mounted correctly? You can check out this article for more information.

Best Regards,
Brad

Yes, it is completely mounted. At times, it stays mounted for several weeks and then out of nowhere, dismounts. Not sure if the magnets can be going bad already?

@bhofer

I think it would be quite extraordinary if the magnets were going bad. We have several Google Nest Outdoor Cameras and one Google Nest Camera (Battery). None have ever dismounted and all feel very tightly secured, some after a couple of years, through cold Minnesota winters and hot summers.

Perhaps your magnetic mount is defective. Or perhaps the magnetic housing inside the camera is defective. Does the magnetic mount look misshapen in any way? Does the problematic camera feel as securely mounted as the camera that is not dismounting itself?  Is the problematic camera by any chance mounted at an angle that makes it less secure?  (Some customers here have complained that the magnetic mount on the new battery camera doesn't allow for the same range of mounting angles.)  Have you tried temporary swapping your cameras to see if the grip on the mount feels different between the two?

Just some thoughts from another customer.
