Hi, my nest doorbell camera always picks up a car driving by on the road but will not pick up and send notifications for somebody walking into the car, pass the car or the car even leaving the driveway.

Hi there,
I can understand how frustrating it can be when your camera isn't identifying vehicles as it should be. I believe that Activity Zones will help you out in this situation. You can learn more about them here. You should be able to edit each zone to change what type of alerts you'll receive. I hope you find the article helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Brad

I understand all about the activity zones and I have set up three and then I set up two and then I went down to one and then I focussed on one. I did all kinds of different things and what happens is 3 feet in front of the doorbell it shows me activity 25 feet in front of the doorbell when a car drives down the road it shows me as an activity and sent me notification if somebody walked up to my car that is parked in the driveway I get no notification it doesn’t see it and send me a notification , it is on the recording because I am recording all the time and I pay for the service to have it stored but I get no notification that says somebody’s trying to break into your car or somebody’s just at my car even if it’s just me. So no, that response really doesn’t help me .

The motion sensing is not going to tell you that your car is being broken into, but it should at least give you a motion alert depending on what you have set for motion alerts. Try to set up activity zones for everywhere except your driveway and exclude cars from the other zones to see if you see any changes. I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Brad

I’m not understanding this clearly. I should set an activity zone outside of the main area I would like focused on and that may help me get motion section in the area I’m concerned about the most??

Hey there,
I'm sorry for the confusion here. Absolutely! Could you set up your Activity Zones and let us know how it goes?

Funny. I replied yesterday. However, now I can’t see it in the chain. I asked the question about creating zones and not creating zones and creating zones outside of the focus area. If that was what I have been requested. The answer was absolutely which was not really an answer that I could follow. I have created two zones that were not in my focus target area. I still got no response. I took one out and I focussed my activity zone in a different area. I still was getting no response. I’m activity in the main area I wanna watch. I have removed all activity zones And I can still see somebody walking up to my door. I can still see cars driving by on the road in front of my house. But I still cannot see if somebody was to walk right past my car in the driveway or even my car pulling out of the driveway does not trigger The motion sensor. That is my main concern, but does not seem to be getting addressed.

Hey there,
I’m sorry you’re still having trouble with your camera picking up motions. Let’s dig deeper into this — could you turn off all your camera notifications, turn on only person notification then let us know how it goes?
Thanks,
JT

Nothing has changed
I get person at front door. No notice of them coming up the stairs. Just once they are at the door

Hey there,
Got it — the doorbell can only capture motion within 10 meters. Beyond the given distance your doorbell won’t send notifications.
I hope that helps.

JT
