Our Nest Hello has worked reliably for a few years. Lately if just goes off line. I’ve rebooted the modem and router. What has worked is ringing the door bell repeatedly and it comes back on. Any suggestions on how to prevent it from going off line? It’s on a covered porch.

Does it go offline spontaneously, or does it go offline for a minute or so only when the doorbell button is pressed? If it is the latter, then the internal battery on your Nest Hello Doorbell (yes, it has one!) may have failed. It has failed on all 3 of our Nest Hellos. Google Nest says they "cannot" replace such failing doorbells if they are past the 1-year warranty. One workaround, as noted in this very long thread below with over 1,000 replies, is to turn off the "Indoor chime" option (in which case the doorbell stays online when the doorbell button is pressed) and rely instead on "Visitor announcements" on Nest Hubs or Nest Minis (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451).

Hi Dawnct,
Thanks for posting, and I’m sorry the doorbell isn’t working properly — let's get this sorted out. A few questions: what is the color of the status light when it goes offline? Do you have an iOS or Android device? Are you experiencing any internet connectivity issues with your other devices?
Here’s a handy guide to help you Troubleshoot offline Nest camera or doorbell.
Thanks for chiming in, MplsCustomer.
Best,
Lance
