Nest doorbell notifications Google Pixel 7a

I have recently bought 2 Google Pixel 7a's and a Google Battery Doorbell GenII

One of my Pixel phones #1 gets Nest doorbell notifications notifications (house smart phone wifi only) while the other with cell service does not #2.

They both did originally get notifications.

Then #2 stopped. Once it did I reset notifications in the Home app and it worked for a few days.

resetting them to off then on on #2 doesn't work anymore.

I have stopped the home app and reset the #2 phone.

Still no notifications.

Anyone have any idea what to try next? I see this is a common problem without solution. I find it strange that identical same brand phone act differently.

TYIA!

Hello xdamageincx,

I appreciate you reaching out to the Community. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Nest doorbell. Let’s investigate.

A few questions: is the Nest doorbell online on the second phone? Are you signed in to the same account on both phones? If you switch from mobile data to WiFi, do the notifications work?

Let’s try the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Turn off all notification settings in the Home app.
  2. Uninstall the Home app.
  3. Check for any Android system updates and install them if there are any.
  4. Restart the Pixel phone.
  5. Reinstall the app and turn on all notifications.
  6. Ensure that background app refresh is on and Do Not Disturb is off.
  7. Check the app permissions for the Home app. Go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > Select All Apps > Google Home > Notifications > Ensure that the toggle is on.
  8. Press the doorbell button to trigger an event, and check if you get notifications on the second phone.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance
