Nest doorbell wired (2nd gen) to doorbell chime with different voltages

Hi,

I know we in the UK don't have and probably won't be receiving the nest door bell wired (2nd gen). However I'm looking at buying one in from USA anyway.

My problem is I have a transformer that is either 12v (12va) or 24v (24va)

My chime is 8-16v operating voltage range.

My question is can I use both voltages on my transformer to make the doorbell and chime both work? If so, how?!

Hi Brianjpat,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're trying to determine if your existing transformer, which can output either 12V (12VA) or 24V (24VA), can power both the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and your 8-16V chime. While the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) is not available in the United Kingdom, I appreciate your interest in our products, and I'd be glad to help you with the information you need!

The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) must be connected to a 16–24VAC, 10VA, 50/60Hz doorbell transformer.

You can use the transformer to make the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and chime both work. Please check out our helpful article to learn how to wire them: Upgrade your transformer for Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen.)

Let me know if you have any other questions. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan
