Nest doorbell(wired); no audio

Is there a reason why the labels category doesn't even offer the doorbell wired?? We've had our wired doorbell camera about 18 months and now, all of a sudden, we can't receive any audio from the doorbell. People can hear us just fine talking to them but we can't hear anything except very low white noise(and we only hear that if we hold the phone to our ear). I saw an earlier post about something similar with the response of oh, it's simply not sending audio and out of warranty, oh well. This is very disappointing. For what I paid, I'd expect it to last at least AND work. As the post I saw, my doorbell camera is also under a large porch completely protected from the weather and sun. And I've tried all the troubleshooting techniques, checked the Nest app settings and the 2nd rate google home app(what a colossal failure this app is, COULD NOT be more user unfriendly and I will NOT purchase any Nest item that requires the google home app). All the settings for the microphone are on and for the record, I have a surge protector(upgrade the builder installed) in my electrical panel so it wasn't a power surge. But, please, if there's something I've missed, please advise and I'll certainly check it out. Nest WAS very high quality, until google bought it.

I had to delete/remove my thermostats before I could readd the doorbell camera to my Nest app, now I get to mess with trying to readd my thermostats which was a challenge when I got them. But at least I got the old NONE working audio doorbell camera back on my Nest app. You can close this thread.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your Nest camera! I'm sure it's frustrating but I'm happy to look into this and see how we can help out.

 

The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to Restart your device. By doing this, it should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

I've restarted the device MANY TIMES by turning off the power to the doorbell, hitting the reset on the back AND doing the factory reset also. Yes, it's very frustrating, I WAS counting on Nest to provide video & AUDIO recording as a level of security to my home. Now, not only can't I get a new Nest Hello doorbell camera to connect, I can't even get the BROKEN one that will NOT receive audio to reconnect, yes resetting both of them in all the ways described multiple times. I've restarted my phone, deleted and readded the Nest app and restarting every aspect of my home network(router/modem, etc) multiple times. Please, anyone reading this be advised that the security you expect will simply be gone if a device cannot be connected/reconnected to your super secretive Nest network.

I see that you have done a ton of troubleshooting on your end, Great job! If you continue to have this issue, I think it may be a great idea for you to reach out to our Support team who could do some additional troubleshooting that isn't available to me to do in these forums. Having a life representative help you through some troubleshooting is always helpful in my opinion.
