Nest doorbell with ADT automation

NSW
Community Member

Hi - I have an ADT system with ADT wireless doorbell chimes. The ADT doorbells are unreliable and finally malfunctioned.  I installed a new Nest wired doorbell today.  It works well with the Google Home app, I can see videos and it alerts my phone.  However I cannot get it to appear the ADT app so that I could setup automation with chimes.

Been through a few tuorials online but no success.

In case, I cannot get the doorbell to appear on the ADT app, I can connect it to a wireless chime via Google automation, are there any recommendations?

Hello NSW,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with linking the Google Home and ADT apps. Let’s check it out.

A few questions: which ADT app are you using: Blue, Control, or Pulse? For the Google Home app, are you the one who created the home structure, or were you invited and joined as a family member? Are you getting any error messages in the ADT app?

If you haven’t done so already, let’s try the steps below:

  1. Open the ADT Control app or the ADT Pulse app.
  2. At the top-left corner, tap the menu.
  3. In the Control app, tap Add device, or in the Pulse app, tap Settings.
  4. Select Google Nest.
  5. An overview of the linking process will appear. Tap Next.
  6. Sign in with the Google account that you want to be associated with your ADT account. This account will also be associated with the home that you want to use in the Google Home app.
  7. If you don’t have an account, select Create Account to proceed.
  8. Choose the home that you want associated with your ADT home.
  9. If you're new to Google Nest, you’ll need to create a new home. Fill in the form with the address for which you purchased this subscription. Tap Next.
  10. If you already have one or more homes in your Google Home app, select the home for which you purchased the subscription. Tap Next.
  11. Allow ADT permission to access your Google Nest devices and services to provide support. Select Next.
  12. Tap Continue to allow ADT to manage your Nest devices and services. Important: If there's an error message displayed on the screen, contact ADT customer support for help.
  13. After you’ve successfully linked your Google account in the ADT app, press the 'Open Google Home app' button:
  14. If you are new to Google Nest products, you'll be prompted to download the Google Home app.
  15. If you already have the Google Home app installed, it'll open the app.

You can check out this guide for more help on how to set up ADT with Google.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance
