Nest hub not showing live view doorbell

Hi there,

I've just installed a new Google Hub and Google Doorbell battery at my parents house.
Installation went ok.
If someone rings the bell, the hub rings and says someone is in front of the door, but it doesn't show the live video. I've tried restaring devices, reinstalling devices, rebooting router etc.

What else can I try to get this working? I've got a similar setup at my own home and that works ok.

Thanks

Within the last month or two, there was a new Nest Hub defect that was preventing the automatic display of the doorbell camera on a Nest Hub when the doorbell button was fixed. This was fixed many weeks ago. Perhaps, since your Nest Hub is new, the fix has not yet been rolled out to the new Nest Hub at your parents' house. Since there's no way to trigger an update, maybe if you wait a few days the update will get rolled out and the problem will fix itself.

Thanks for this info! Is there some official info on this topic from Google available?

@nrjansen

This thread has merged posts and 280+ replies from numerous customers on this issue earlier this year.

See the "recommended answer" from Google Nest Community Specialist @Muddi  on Aug. 9:

"We have an update for you: we've rolled out a fix that should resolve this issue for most users. The next time someone rings your doorbell, please confirm that your Nest Hub displays your camera feed. Keep in mind, there is a small number of users who haven't received a fix yet...."

It's now a fews days later and it is still not showing the live view on the Hub, What to do?

@nrjansen

When your Nest Hub announces that someone has rung your doorbell, does it display any kind of error message instead of the live video?

What software version does your Nest Hub show, under Settings | Device Information | Technical Information? Ours in on Fuchsia Version 14.20230831.4.72 and Software Version 54.103.7.577294944.

Hi there,

I still have issues at my parents house with this device. Even if I ask, Hey Google Show Camera... It says "Okay I stream video at doorbell"... It looks like it tries it but nothing shows up. See images.

I've brought the Hub to my own house and there it is working fine.

Could it has something to do with net wifi router of our provider (KPN)?then it tries it, but stops.then it tries it, but stops.it says, show camerait says, show camera

@nrjansen

When you brought it to your own house, did you remove it from the Google Home app (which should trigger a factory reset if it is online) and then reinstall it in the Google Home app in  the Google Nest "home/structure" for your own house? If not--if you just brought it over to your own house and plugged it in--then perhaps you have installed the Nest Hub in the Google Nest "home/structure" for your own house on your own Wi-Fi network, rather than installing it in the Google Nest "home/structure" for your parents' house on their Wi-Fi network.

If you want to use a Nest Hub to stream a Nest doorbell and get "Visitor announcements" from that doorbell, both the Nest Hub and the Nest doorbell should be in the same Google Nest "home/structure" on the same Wi-Fi network.

I just brought the hub to my house, reinstalled it and there it worked. I have a similar setup at my home. So basically at that time I had 2 hubs showing my live camera of the doorbell.

Then brought it back to my parents house again, reinstalled it and same issues. Devices are very close to wifi devices and it does push to mobile and show live video on there....

@nrjansen

That's odd then. I've seen a few posts in this forum from customers who seem to have trouble getting their Nest Hub to work with the battery doorbell, with no resolution noted.
