I bought a Nest out door cam, when I try and set it up with Nest, it says to set it up in google home first. It works in Home, but when I try to add it NEST, the ser number that show up in the list is not the ser number on the camera? Anyone know how to make this work?

If you have one of the newer models listed below, they are designed for and managed via the Home app. You don't need to and cannot add them to the Nest app.

But I pay Nest a subscription so there is video recordings, the camera says NEST on it, and it will not work with the Nest app?

The Google Store and online help materials are quite clear that it requires the Home app, not the Nest app. Most of the features you know and love from the Nest app, are also there in the Home app, but may work in a slightly different way.

Event and 24/7 video history - Google Nest Help

I am still confused, why a “nest” cam will not work with the “nest” app? I like the way the nest app gives me views of all my cameras and alerts, having to open both “Home” and “Nest” is not very desirable. Why would a nest camera not work with nest? If I am using Google Home only there are way cheaper cameras I could use, I paid the premium to have it work with Nest. Very, Very disappointed

I understand the confusion, Maserati_jk. Ultimately the goal is to have all smart home devices controlled in the Home app, letting users just have a single source to manage everything. I realize while we're not quite there yet, the feature disparity can be odd to juggle. The feedback to our teams definitely helps, but as the Home app continues to evolve, some of this is definitely a bit of a waiting game.
Thanks,
Jeff
