Nest outdoor camera went grey

I read all the other posts and tried what was recommended.  I was wondering if there were any other recommendations.  Our Nest outdoor camera (installed October 2019) went grey horizontal lines last night.  We tried things recommended here, but nothing is bringing it back.   Do we need to replace the camera?

Hi,

If you have already tried the recommended troubleshooting steps for your Nest outdoor camera, and the issue persists, it is possible that the camera is faulty and may need to be replaced. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Restart your camera: Try restarting your Nest outdoor camera by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for a few seconds, and then plugging it back in.

  2. Check the camera's firmware: Make sure that your camera's firmware is up to date by checking the Nest app or the Nest website for updates. If an update is available, try installing it and see if it resolves the issue.

  3. Check your Wi-Fi network: Ensure that your camera is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network. You can do this by checking the Wi-Fi signal strength in the Nest app or by moving your camera closer to your router.

  4. Check your camera's settings: Make sure that the camera's settings are properly configured. For example, check the video quality settings to ensure that they are not set too high, as this can cause video playback issues.

  5. Contact Nest support: If you have tried all of these troubleshooting steps and the issue still persists, you may want to contact Nest support for further assistance. They may be able to help you diagnose the problem and provide you with a solution, or they may suggest that you replace the camera if it is still under warranty.

Thanks.

Thank you.  I am not sure what triggered it working again, but I noticed it went grey just as it would have been switching over to night mode.   So a couple of minutes ago I switched night mode off and it still not work.  So I set it back with the intent of moving on with your suggestions, and it started working again.   I will keep an eye on it and see if it goes bad again.
