NestCam Indoor Outdoor Battery

I am very frustrated that the new Google Nest Cams are not compatible with the home.nest.com website.  I have six cam's using that ecosystem and two of the new indoor/outdoor battery cams.

I LOVE the intereface that I have on home.nest.com the nest app I have on iOS and absolutely HATE the interface that is provided using the iOS Google Home app.  The fact that I can't seem to find a place to view my Google cams from a PC or Mac makes them even less useful!!!

Hey Google!!!  Easy Fix!  Make it so the Google Nest Cam's work with home.nest.com and the iOS Nest App.  It is beyond frustrating to have to use 2 apps and that the google app doesn't show live video in the screen that lists the cam's!

I appreciate you getting back to me.  I understand that you are still in the process of making the Google Home/Nest app a seamless experience.  I figured out how to see all my cam's on the Google Home app.  That being said I still have not been able to figure out how to view my cam's using the Chrome browser on my iMac.  or any other PC for that matter.  I would like to be able to view all my cam's on my computer in addition to my mobile devices.

When viewing the google Home app cam's on my mobile device the battery gets very hot and starts draining quickly.  This issue has to be resolved as well.  Merely exiting to the home screen doesn't help.  You actually have to EXIT the app by swiping it away on the iPhone to get the battery to cool down again.

Looking forward to the day everything works seamlessly again.

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration. 

 

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. Is there a way to see the Google Cams on my PC or Mac?

No, as I stated above there is not yet an option to view your cameras on a computer. We do not have a current Web App or Google Home. Unless your cameras are in the Nest app, then you are unable to view their footage on a computer.

Hopefully soon you will have that!  I, and I'm sure many others like keeping the Nest web page up to keep an eye on their home or business in real time on their PC or Mac.  Not being able to see some of my camera's there requires SEVERAL extra click...  Even the Google Home App requires more clicks to see the cam video than the Nest app.

I just wanted to jump in real fast and thank you for your feedback. If/when this feature becomes available as a web app, please feel free to submit your feedback to us. I've put instructions for feedback below.

 

  • Open the Google Home app

Google Home app

  • At the top right, tap your account.
  • Tap Feedback 

and then

  • tap the type of device you'd like to submit feedback for.
  • To display available emails, in the "From:" section, tap the arrow on the right. Select your email address.
  • In the feedback summary, write a brief description of your issue.
  • Be sure to check the box for Screenshot and System logs.
  • To submit feedback, at the top right corner, tap Send
