Nestcam with floodlight offline (HELP!)

BrianPerr

Hi - I've had 3 Nestcam w/floodlights installed since November.  They've all worked fine until about 10 days ago when one went offline.   I've tried all the things that I've seen referenced.  Specifically, I've tried resetting the camera with the button, I've powered off the device for 30 minutes, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling within Google Home.  When I do the install now, it goes through the process and gets to the end and says 'something went wrong'.   It's not an electrical issue as the lights turn on when I restored the power and the little green light is on, it's not a wifi issue as I have a signal in places further away from the camera and I even tried moving a wifi extender closer (plus it worked for 6 months).  Is there any other ideas as to what to try or is it possible that the camera is bad and needs to be replaced?

Other notes ... I've seen references that the indicator light is supposed to turn blue at some point for pairing.  I've never seen a blue light.   Also, initially, I tried just removing and reinstalling the camera.  While that did not work, it did add the camera back into the Google Home app showing as off-line,  Now, after the resets, it doesn't even do that and it's not even appearing in Google Home.

If it needs to be replaced, is it under warranty?  I received it from Best Buy on 11/4/2021.

Thanks.

Brian

UPDATE:  I called support and they helped.  I wasn’t holding the reset button long enough. The support person told me to hold it until the light turned yellow.  It never did, but it went to blinking blue and I was able to add it. Still one issue…  the light says ‘offline’.  I can turn it on manually — I’m just not sure if it will come on if the camera spots activity at night.  I’ll find out tonight, but in the meantime,  does that sound familiar to anyone?

Hi there,

I apologize for the late reply. Do you still need help with this? Your status light will turn off if your camera is idle and not detecting activity, streaming video or recording video.

See Nest camera and doorbell lights and sounds to learn more.

Regards,

Steve

Fortunately it has been resolved.  Honestly,  I’m a little disappointed in the lack of online support here.
