New Outdoor nest cam (battery) went offline

Both of my Battery Nest cams went offline and will not reconnect.  Both are powered with the nest power cord.  My other older nest cams are working normally.

I reset one of the cameras and now cannot get it to rejoin my network.  The only thing I can think of is that the Google Nest servers are having issues, Are the battery Nest Cams on a separate server distinct from the legacy cameras?

I’ll guess I’ll wait to see if things improve tomorrow…

Having the same issue!!! I had the same guess which is Nest servers were having issues! My nest doorbell wired is working fine. Please see my post for details.  Also, I highly suspect nest cam (battery) has much worse Wifi chip or setup.

A few weeks ago there was a brief outage that seemed to affect only our new Google Nest Camera Battery.

You can check Nest Status here: https://status.nest.com/

The next day I still could not get the camera's working.  I went to BestBuy and had them replaced using the "Geek Squad" warranty.  New cameras are working at this time.

Did you have the new Nest Camera (battery) and have it wired for outdoor?

I can only view live feed intermittently from my cameras. Every time I reset and reconnect them to my Google Home, they both work fine for 24 hours and then the same issue appears.

  • Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.
  • What other troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,

can you please also check my post here? Nest cam battery has worse Wifi performance and go... - Google Nest Community

I don't know what has happened to other folks but luckily my cameras seem back to normal again.

That being said, I think we are still not happy with the solutions provided by Google Nest. I believe all of us have tried all the troubleshooting steps listed in this page. None of them really work out. Our hunch is there was something happened on the Google server

I have 2 specific request

1. Can we optimize Nest Wifi for Nest Cam(battery)? If you have seen my post, the old nest doorbell gets much faster speed from Nest wifi whereas the new Nest cam(battery) really sucks.

2. I feel Google uses 2 separate fleets for serving traffic from the old Nest cam and the new Nest cam. However, the status on Nest service status doesn't differentiate that, which probably is fine but I really doubt if Google has integrated new Nest cam with it. Can someone share if it's reliable to check service status for new Nest cam?
