New wired doorbell, as well as older battery version — google home generates two notifications

This problem seems to come up a lot, with no resolution in this forum. When ever I get an alert from google home from a nest doorbell, it happens twice. Something like “person at front door” with two alerts and the same message.  This is somewhat irritating when I’m just reading alerts. It is maddening when I hear it on earphones. 

I’ve seen this issue posted several times on this forum with no resolution, as well as on Reddit. It seems to be bug in google home. Please escalate so it gets fixed!

Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear about your alert issue. Let's check our options here. To confirm, does this only happen on your phone only? Are there other family members who can access the camera? Do they receive any notifications?
 

Try these steps:

  • Clear the cache of your Google Home App.
  • Reinstall the Google Home App.
  • In case the issue persists, Reset your Nest doorbell to the factory default.
