Newly installed Nest flood light camera powers by battery when it should be wired

I have an older floodlight that is connected to a power switch inside my house. I'm not sure why a floodlight has a power-switch, when it should just run off a wired connection, but this appears to be a feature of older homes. I had an electrician install the new, wired Nest floodlight with camera today and noticed that the camera has 67% battery life showing in the app when it should have an infinite loop for a wired connection.

Based on other posts, this should be remedied with the electrician closing the loop where he simply tied off the power switch. I'm still concerned because other posters continue to share that the issue remains after this fix. I will provide an update when the electrician returns and hopefully will have a workable system in place.

Hi MPLSCustomer,

This matter was resolved when the electrician came back and connected the two hires that attached to the light switch controlling the previous floodlight. He capped off the access point with plate, we turned the power back on and the power supply reads, "Infinite" now.  Hopefully no further issues! Thanks!

For some reason, this forum has numerous posts like yours about the floodlight camera. We have the battery camera (really the same camera), plugged in with the optional power cable, and the battery has always remained charged since the camera is running off of household current.

In the case of the floodlight camera, any switch to the circuit should be turned on at all times. (We have a conventional floodlight on our garage, and we have a rectangular cap over the switch to prevent turning it off.) Is your power cable plugged in tightly into the bottom of the camera (sometimes the connection isn't good) and is the cable feeding correctly towards the FRONT of the camera?
